Montessori Children’s House is seeking a Primary trained Guide (AMI preferred) to take over an established classroom of 25 students, with two wonderful classroom assistants.  

Important information for applicants: sadly, the Guide for this classroom recently passed away, and we are a grieving community.  

Hours for this position are 7:30-3:30, M-F, + school meetings and events (all prescheduled).

We have a good deal of flexibility with our start-date and would consider our new Guide joining us as early as January 2025 or as late as spring or early summer 2025.

Requirements include:
- Primary Montessori Training Certification (AMI or AMS)
- 1+ years previous experience as a Guide or in equivalent role
- Active enrollment in Oregon’s Central Background Registry,
- Current Infant/Child CPR & First-Aid training,
- Oregon Food Handler’s Certificate,
- Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect (RRCAN) training,
- Introduction to Child Care Health and Safety (ICCHS) training,
- Prevention is Better Than Treatment (PBTT) training
- Foundations for Learning (FFL) training

At Montessori Children’s House we believe in the importance of community and expect Guides to work in partnership with families and staff for the benefit of the children. Guides and assistants shall work as partners who bring their unique strengths to the work environment. The expectation is that Guides will take on an important mentorship role to aid assistants in developing their understanding of Montessori pedagogy whilst allowing them to share their talents and interests with the students.

Compensation:
Starting salary is regionally competitive, starting at an annual rate of $55k.

MCH is a non-profit school located on Portland’s South Waterfront and is easily accessed by bike and public transportation.
